Nourishing Homemade Bone Broth
A deeply nourishing bone broth simmered for 24-48 hours with organic bones, vegetables, and fresh herbs.
Ingredients
- 1 4 lbs organic bones (beef, chicken, or mixed)
- 2 2 organic carrots, chopped
- 3 3 organic celery stalks, chopped
- 4 1 sprig fresh rosemary
- 5 1 tbsp fresh dill
- 6 2 tbsp fresh parsley
- 7 2 cups Swiss chard, chopped
- 8 4 whole garlic cloves
- 9 Himalayan pink salt, to taste
- 10 1/4 cup liquid aminos (or to taste)
- 11 Optional: any vegetable or herb scraps you have on hand
Instructions
- 1
Roast the bones: Place bones on a baking sheet and broil in the oven for 30 minutes, until fragrant and nicely browned.
- 2
Build the broth: Add bones to a large stockpot along with vegetables, herbs, garlic, and any veggie or herb scraps.
- 3
Add water: Cover everything with good-quality, filtered water.
- 4
Simmer: Bring to a gentle simmer, then reduce heat to low. Simmer for 24-48 hours, skimming off any foam that rises to the top and adding more water as needed.

Finish with herbs: Add delicate herbs (parsley, dill, rosemary) during the last 30-60 minutes of cooking.
- 6
Season: Add Himalayan pink salt and liquid aminos to taste.
- 7
Strain and store: Strain broth, discard solids, and store in glass jars in the refrigerator or freezer.
